What is link popularity?
Link popularity or how webmasters love to call it "BackLinks", is the number of links pointing to your website from other relevant websites.

Link popularity is determined not only by the number of links but also by the quality of websites that have linked to your website and the quality of the link it self, inbound links, text links, anchor text. The effects of link popularity is to determine how important is your website. The search engine spiders (robots) trails to follow these links and re-index your site. thus every backlink will indicate a vote of your website popularity. The more back links you have the more popular your site is.

Ideally, you will want to approach established sites already listed in the search engines which have content related to your web site. These sites already have a steady stream of targeted visitors . In addition, links from these sites have the advantage of being considered 'more relevant' by the search engines and will help your own rankings improve.

Search engines such as google have found that judging a site by who links to it is one of the best indicators of site quality. After all, we put links in our website to offer something with value to our audience, It is like a free survey we "webmasters" do to vote for other websites.

search engines can only be successful as long as they deliver relevant search results to a vast Internet audience. On the other hand, webmasters and SEO companies are trying to manipulate search engine in order to be indexed in the first search results. and that results is damaging the ability of search engines to deliver relevant search results. until they began to use link popularity as a factor. 1. Create a link bait, link bait can be a list of very important "in your niche category" information, resources and tools. People still love lists of "top, best, tips, strategies". The best example is `101 link building list` from SEOBOOK, I hade to link to it.

If you can build a good useful list that other webmasters will love they will link to it. In your own website you have linked to other websites, why? Research your own behavior to understand other webmasters.

2. I love website directories; it is easy fast and valuable one way link back. You must do some submitting, I recommend submitting to at least 50 website directories each month beginning with the "free with no reciprocal link and high PR" directories. Go to this list of website directories, bookmark it and you can also link to it (with my pleasure) you see I am giving you a reason to link to me.

3. Link exchange, swapping links with other relative websites, it is a little bit hard frustrating and time consuming strategy. You will come accrues some webmasters who says "do not build a link page; swap only text in context links". Well I think you don't have enough content and text pages to swap links with others; you have to build a partner or resources link page and exchange links with it. 4. Article marketing, with my humble experience I am sure that this is the best quality link building strategy on the net. It is the only must do link building strategy, it is not a choice if you want to have a high PR.

First If you can write:

a. chose 2 of your niche keywords and write a 500-750 words article around it, repeat smartly those 2 keywords at least 4 times and maximum 7 times in this article.

b. build 2 versions of this article "text only" insert your url in it as www.yourdomain.com, and "html" insert you links with anchor text (anchor text is the text that you will click on to visit the site) as <a herf=http://www.yourdomain.com>anchor text</a>

c. write your BIO or resource box also in two versions text and html as" name the author of "your website" some about you and one more link to your website.

d. submit this article to article directories like iSnare " I have also arranged a list of article directories only for you". Some directories accept html version so post your html version and others don't so give them the text.

e. Try to find some relative websites and ask the admin to swap articles with hime.

f. You can purchase a distribution service like iSnare they can distribute your article for only $2.

If you have no idea of writing you can hire a professional service like Majon.com they can write and distribute articles for you.

5. Blogs

a. You can create one or more blogs post article and other keyword rich texts and link back to your website.

b. Ask other bloggers to swap articles

c. read relevant blogs find some useful information and participate by committing. Do not spam, do not do it only to get link back the author will know. Be professional so the readers will like your commits and click your link. Link to some of these blogs from your blog. Outbound links are one of the cheapest forms of marketing available. Many bloggers also track who is linking to them or where their traffic comes from, so linking to them is an easy way to get noticed by some of them.

d. tag your posts with relevant tags and submit to Technorati.

6. Get some easy free links from Craigslist or by participating in Yahoo! Answers and Google Groups

7. Submit a story to Digg and other social bookmarks.

8. Build pages in Squidoo and hubpages and link back to your website from it.

9.  Join forums that discuss your niche, so you can be helpful, make the forum members trust you love your contribution and they will easily click on your signature. Try to be smart on writing the signature, use only anchor text.
